With great sadness…

It is with great sadness that I  need to inform you of the death or Mr Charles Viva, our founder and fellow trustee. What can I say, for words seems so inadequate.

We give thanks for all his work, commitment and vision of InterplastUk and all his medical expertise over many decades but most of all for the wonderful qualities of love, compassion and humility that he personified. He is a great loss to his family,  all of us who have known him, worked with him and whose lives he has touched and transformed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Viva family , including our fellow trustees David and Rachel, at this very difficult time. We all mourn the loss of a very special man.

May he rest in peace.

God bless you all

Mission to South Sudan – accomplished!

S Sudan Oct 2017 full team

S Sudan Oct 2017 team

Mr Charles Viva and the small team (3 from England and 2 from Kumi Hospital in Uganda) have now left Maridi in South Sudan.  It is good to know that all are safe and well and we look forward to receiving their report.  The mission took place from 3rd to 12th October 2017 .  This mission came about because of a heartfelt plea from a lady teaching English in Maridi.  Her message to us is shown below – I am sure you will agree that this is a community in great need.  More news will be posted as it becomes available. Our thanks to Louise Newman (second on the left) for the fabulous photographs!

Dear Interplast . Please we need help.I live in Maridi, South Sudan teaching English. In September 2015 there was a tanker petrol explosion which happened when hundreds of people were surrounding it trying to siphon it. over 160 people died. We are left with 175 patients needing further medical help.  Please will you email me as the suffering is still great.
